The Orfalea Children's Center Lab School, housed in the Family and Consumer Education Center (building J), provides quality care for infants and preschoolers between three months and five years of age. The center serves as the lab school for Early Childhood Studies students who assist the credentialed staff in providing an enriched learning environment designed to foster social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth for young children. The philosophy of the program is to provide each child with the tools and the opportunity to be actively involved in the learning process, to experience a variety of developmentally appropriate activities and materials, and to pursue his/her own interests. As an integral part of the Early Childhood Studies program, the center provides a multicultural, anti-bias inclusion approach where children have the opportunity to experience differences in gender, race/ethnicity, abilities, learning styles, and individual needs. The center is available to student parents en-rolled in nine or more units during fall and spring semesters, six or more units during summer session, and/or CalWORKs or Title V participants. Limited staff spaces are available. Applications from student parents taking less than the minimum units are accepted on a space-available basis. An orientation session is required prior to enrollment.

My Name is Angie, I've been working with kids for seventeen years, I was a babysitter for thirteen years then I decided to open my family child care program. Our Philosophy We create an environment in which it promotes Social, Emotional, Physical, and Intellectual growth. An atmosphere where children are free to explore and learn. In our daily schedule we count we history time. when we read books about different topic, like animals,colors, countries, cultures etc. We also have circle time, we share what we like to eat. Early Development Services provides a safe and fun learning environment in an NAEYC accredited program for children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5th grade at Betteravia Early Learning Center for children ages 6 weeks thru 5 years.

CAC-I Center is a NAEYC Accredited par day program providing high quality care and education to children ages 3-5. We have 2 classrooms. its conciser a extended program, one classroom Tuesday-Friday from 8:15am-2:45PM and the other classroom operates Tuesday-Friday from 8:30am-3:00AM and Mondays being early closure at 12:30pm. Head Start conducts health, developmental and dental screenings for all children enrolled. Children receive hot, nutritious, USDA-approved meals served daily. Families have access to family services including parenting classes, wellness, English literacy, GED and much more.

Community Action Commission is a local non-profit organization who partners with families and the community to provide education and services that support healthy development, self sufficiency and enhance the quality of life for children and families.

Alvin CommUnify is a non-profit organization that serves low income families in our community. Our agency provides services such as senior nutrition, youth health and prevention, weatherization, economic empowerment, utility support, and children services. Our children services provide pregnancy education, home care and education through family child care homes, toddler at site care and education and preschool at site care and education. We follow creative curriculum amongst other curriculums that enhance children's learning with hands on experiences. Alvin site is open year round from 6:30am-5:15pm to best meet families needs. All of our children are screened to review their development and individualized our experiences by needs, interest, ability and age of the children. Our staff works together as a team to get our center running smoothly by providing our families with full positive preschool experience. We have a total of four teachers, two assistant teachers, cook, family service advocate and site supervisor that are present daily to assist our families and giving them a head start to thrive.

CAC Betty Sanchez Center provides quality childcare services and education to children 0-5 and their families. Our center provides full and part-time schedules for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Our holistic approach provides nutritious, delicious meals and snacks, medical, dental, and mental health screenings, parenting education workshops and services for children with special needs and disabilities.

Buena Vista Head Start is a high quality double session Preschool Program servicing children from low-income families. Each classroom regularly has 17 children. Buena Vista also has a full day classroom of 20 that provides year round services. Teachers are highly qualified and have many years experience in early childhood best practices. We have been NAEYC Accredited for the last 10 years. Our center uses the Creative Curriculum model and practices The Outdoor Classroom practices.

CAC Chestnut Early Head Start Center has two full day year round classrooms serving children 18 months to 36 months. Each Classroom has an enrollment of 8 toddlers for a total of 16. There are two teachers who facilitate the program in each room and is supported by a shared assistant.

We are licensed for 20 children, we operate an inclusion classroom in our AM session, NAEYC accredited. 2 teachers on site, 1 FSA, and 1 site supervisor on site.

CAC Coronel Head Start/CD Center is a federally and state funded program that serves low income families and is located on the lower west side of Santa Barbara, Our curriculum is the Creative Curriculum and as such we believe that -school children learn best through play in a developmentally appropriate environment that encourages social,emotional, cognitive, and creative development as the basis of all future learning. In addition to supporting the children's growth, our program also strives to assist parents' progress toward their own educational, literacy, and employment goals and to support their growth as parents.

Module with two classrooms, a staff lounge, adult bathroom, a kitchen and office for supervisor. Each classroom has 10 enrolled children with three teachers in each classroom. Fillmore has one Family Service advocate and a cook plus one supervisor.

Our History The Community Action Commission of Santa Barbara County (CAC) started in 1964 as a 15-member Community Action Committee that was appointed by the County Board of Supervisors. CAC was incorporated as a private non-profit organization in May of 1967. In October of that year, CAC began operating a seniors program, and in 1969 started an adult job-training program. CAC has gradually expanded to to include the wide array of programs available today including: Learning experiences and high quality care for children age 0-5 Job training, education, and mentoring for teens and young adults Leadership, involvement, and educational opportunities for parents Healthy daily meals for children and seniors Improvements that make homes warmer, safer and more energy-efficient Many highly successful local programs – including the Community Housing Corporation, the Friendship Center, Shelter Services for Women, and Easy Lift – had their beginnings at CAC, then moved into their own right within the community. Although we’ve made incredible progress in the fight against poverty – now at approximately 15% of the population– there’s still plenty of work to do. And we are committed to ending poverty in Santa Barbara County.

CAC Maple Center has a full day year round classroom and a Part day part year classroom. The part day classroom is double session offering an AM and PM session and each classroom has an enrollment of 17. There are two teachers who facilitate part day and the Supervisor helps when needed. The full day classroom has an enrollment of 20 and three teachers facilitate the classroom.

KinderKirk Preschool is a state licensed childcare center, serving families with children ages 2 years through entering Kindergarten. We are a Registered Demonstration Site of the Outdoor Classroom Network, which means that our children spend about 80% of their time outside (in all kinds of weather) learning through hands on activities. We provide a flexible and nurturing environment that enables children to take charge of their own learning and purse their interests. You will often find our teachers in the background, observing, asking questions and letting the children direct where the activity goes. Little Motors is licensed, state-certified center that is compliant with safety regulations and participant in quality & nutrition evaluations. The center will be directed by a certified teacher that has proper training in first aid, CPR and in Health & Safety. In order to practice proper safety, Little Motors will direct monthly fire and earthquake drills. Our center will be divided in several bountiful areas: mathematics, dramatic play, blocks, manipulative area, literature, science, writing, child-appropriate obstacle course, kitchen activities, dining area and outside activity tables (separated into three different porch areas). Children will partake in walks to explore and learn about nature. We are pleased to mention Little Motors is a bilingual center! We will be staffed will English and Spanish speakers. Your child will have the opportunity to learn lessons in both languages.

Mendez FCC Lo primero y más importante es estar preparada para satisfacer y atender adecuadamente las necesidades individuales de cada niño para cumplir con las expectativas de las familias de manera continua. Tenemos un horario planificado para el día donde incluimos actividades apropiadas a la edad del niño que fomenten el aprendizaje, dichas actividades se realizan dentro de la casa o al aire libre. Tales como, contar colores, formas geométricas, canciones, leer, escribir, colorear, y muchas de estas actividades las hacemos a través del juego. Mantennos comunicación reciprocas con ellos durante el día usando palabras positivas y tonos suaves y haciendo preguntas abiertas, también usamos lenguaje con señas para los bebes. Las rutinas a través del horario nos ayudan mucho y a ellos les da seguridad porque ellos ya saben que pueden esperar durante el día. The Learning Place State Preschool is an income eligible program funded by the California Department of Education and administered through the Santa Barbara County Education Office - Child Development. Learning Place is located at Crestview School on Vandenberg AFB, CA. It is a NAEYC accredited program, has an "Exceeding Quality," four star rating with the First Five Quality Care Program of Santa Barbara County, and is an Outdoor Classroom Site. The site is licensed to serve 26 children and offers a morning OR afternoon choice based on space available. An eligibility waiting list is maintained all year so please call 805-742-2077.

Our center serves two different categories: 1. Teenage parents enrolled high school and/or attending a college/technical school 2. The multi-age groupings encourage pro-social behavior and an enriched cognitive environment. This setting ensures that children's needs (intellectual, physical, emotional, social and creative) are appropriately met at a variety of levels. The curriculum includes many activities: science and nature (gardening, cooking, pet care, nature study), creative art activities and projects, dramatic play, sensory experiences, large muscle activities, early literacy activities, language arts activities, music, and math awareness through hands-on manipulation of objects in the environment. There is a special focus on self awareness and the appreciation of diversity within the classroom. Daily group times provide opportunities for sharing, music, and stories; families are encouraged to participate in the daily experiences.

The Vandenberg Air Force Base Child Development Center (CDC) offers care for children between the ages of 6 weeks - 5 years old (start of kindergarten). The CDC is Department of Defense certified and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. As a quality early childhood program, the curriculum offered has the goal of building a basic positive foundation for education in the areas of math, science, literacy, and the arts while encouraging age-appropriate social and emotional development

The child care provides an educational, healthy and safe place for children to learn, play and explore. We will work hard every day by giving the best of our knowledge, respect, and caring to provide the best environment possible for kids to grow and develop. Each child deserves respect; to their learning style, interest, culture, logic and family background through daily interactions and the direction of the curriculum. Children are learning; we want to facilitate their learning and fostering competencies in all areas; physical, cognitive, social and emotional development. With a schedule and space available children will challenge themselves and select activities base on their individual needs and interest.
